expathjobs.com is an independent, free tool. This page explains what data we collect and why — in plain language, not legal boilerplate.

Site analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use — for example, how many people use the verify tool versus browse the directory. This collects general information like your approximate location (city level, from your IP address), device/browser type, and which pages you visit. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors, and we don't combine it with any account data described below.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using Google's browser opt-out add-on.

Job seeker accounts

If you create a job seeker profile, we store your name, email, phone number, a short bio, and an optional CV file. We do not collect or store your NIC/passport number or date of birth. Your password is never stored in readable form — only a one-way cryptographic hash of it.

Your profile information is only shared when you choose to apply to a job listing, which opens your own email app with your details pre-filled for you to review and send yourself — we do not send this automatically or share your profile with any agency without you taking that action.

Your CV, if uploaded, is accessible via a private, hard-to-guess link included in that application email — we don't publish it anywhere else on the site.

Agency directory data

Agency names, license numbers, addresses, and contact details shown in the directory come from the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment's public register — this is not personal data we collect, it's published business/regulatory information about licensed companies.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't share job seeker account data with advertisers. We don't use tracking for advertising purposes.
